Olympic training ?

Here's my obviously much younger brother cruising about at what is reported to be a break-neck pace on his weekly hockey night. He was describing a certain run-in with the boards, and it was clear that I will need to take a pass on this night of fun. I've heard that my youngest brother is nursing a shoulder mishap on the slopes in California, something to do with a snowboard, though this hasn't been confirmed. These winter sports can be hard on a guy!

Ouch!

Everyone has heard of tennis elbow, but fewer people are familiar with tennis leg. Tennis leg is a strain (a stretch, tear, or complete rupture) of the gastrocnemius, which is the larger of the two muscles in the calf. Tennis and soccer players, among others, can injure the muscle by pushing off or moving forward quickly. “

This morning paid a visit to Dr. McNally (Red Cedar Medical Center Orthopedic Surgeon) who advised that I've likely suffered what is known as "tennis leg."

Which must be approximately what happens when your ski is snapped out of it's binding during your tumble... "moving forward quickly" 10 days of ice and rest doesn't seem to be making much progress... so today we had a look (MRI) to rule out other possibilities, and am getting on with the professional rehab of this frustrating situation.

Where's the snow?

Seems a bit strange the picture they use to advertise the spot Patrick and I will stay at Spirit Mountain in Duluth. It's aptly named the Eagles Nest.

He'll snowboard, I'll ski, and the temps will be unseasonably warm (high temp tomorrow 37F). Pehaps we'll need to head further north to find some snow that isn't melting.

Had my motorcycle out this afternoon for a little spin in the countryside. Low to mid 50's is a little chilly, but it was fun to be out.
