I've taken to following Steven Levitt's, in part because I enjoyed his book, and in part because Laurie is an econ major and I tend to like the lens those economics folks look through. I don't necessarily understand how they do it, but I find the discussion thought provoking. So I noticed the title
Not so easy to adopt from China anymoreRelevant because my niece was adopted from China. My take-away message, it's always troublesome when a government tries to identify particular "suitable" characteristics - in this case parenting abilities/skills. I wouldn't necessarily agree with Levitt that simply raising the price solves the problem either. It would suggest that people for whom money is less a concern are necessarily more suitable adoptive parents, but it does seem like a nice way to subsidize the orphanages...
