Prehistoric Frill Shark

The truth again is stranger than fiction, check out video footage of this true creature from the deep. Too Creepy! Perhaps scuba diving doesn't appeal to me much because I suspect this is the sort of thing I'd be unlucky enough to encounter.

New Orleans of Future May Stay Half Its Old Size - New York Times

Seems a difficult task to manage the reconstruction in a way that avoids simply re-creating the worst parts of the pre-hurricane New Orleans, and preserving the valued cultural aspects of the region. I also was a "some-time" visitor and would attest to the unique character of the region.

Off to Wine Country

Alison is attending a conference in beautiful Sonoma California. They are experiencing some unusally chilly temps, hopefully this won't be a problem for her trip there.

Concert night...

Patrick and I attended a great concert last night here in town at the Mabel Tainter Theater. The Sue Orfield Band put on a really good show. Tenor Sax playing at its finest.

NOLA

Laurie is finishing up her winter break in New Orleans. She has been doing Katrina relief work all week with her friends from Grinnell College. They did make it down to Bourbon Street for some revelry with the many Saints fans as they celebrated their victory or the Eagles. Good for the folks down there to have a some good news. There are still so many in trouble there.
